In 1990, Daniel “Dan” Farber founded Bright Lights USA, located in Barrington, New Jersey. As Bright Lights USA’s chief executive officer, he oversees the daily operations of the firm. When not in the office, Dan Farber supports numerous charitable organizations, one of which includes the ALS Association.
Founded in 1985, the ALS Association is the only nonprofit organization in the country dedicated to fighting Lou Gehrig’s disease. Through its nationwide chapters, the ALS Association connects individuals and families dealing with the disease, and the Greater Philadelphia chapter represents those living in the eastern half of Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, and Delaware.
One of the fundraising events sponsored by the ALS Association is its Walk to Defeat ALS. This walk, which is the association’s biggest annual event, raises money to sustain patient care and support research with the ultimate goal of finding a cure for the disease. The Lakewood Walk to Defeat ALS occurred on May 7, 2016, at FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood, New Jersey. Participants for this two-mile walk raised more than $50,000.
